Jeddah celebrates heritage: Celebrate World Monuments and Sites Day 2025!
On the occasion of World Monuments and Sites Day. The Saudi ICOMOS continued its efforts to spread awareness of cultural heritage by organizing a special event in Jeddah. In cooperation with the Saudi Society for Urban Science. and the Islamic Arts House Museum. and the Almadad Foundation for Art, Culture and Heritage.
The event was held on the evening of Saturday, April 19, 2025. in the Safa Hall of the Muktain Museum at the Jeddah Park Center. In the presence of a group of people interested in urban heritage and national culture.
The event included a special panel discussion titled:
“Smart Cities and Disaster Risk Management in Heritage Sites,”
which highlighted the importance of enhancing strategies to preserve heritage sites using modern technologies and artificial intelligence. to address climate change and future environmental challenges.
The event also included a special photographic exhibition titled “AlUla Heritage in Pictures”. which celebrated the aesthetics of AlUla’s architectural and natural heritage. which recently joined the list of global smart cities. Emphasizing its ability to harmonize between preserving its authenticity and smart urban development.
