Saudi ICOMOS participates in organizing a training course for the preservation of architectural heritage
The Saudi National Committee for the International Council on Monuments and Sites (Saudi ICOMOS) participated in organizing a training course on the process of preserving architectural heritage for male and female students of the College of Architecture and Planning and the College of Tourism and Antiquities at King Saud University.
The course was organized by the non-profit Heritage Foundation in cooperation with the Saudi ICOMOS and the Royal Commission for AlUla Governorate. It lasted for 6 days.
The course included a number of scientific lectures presented by archaeological experts and researchers and addressed prominent topics about the stages of the process of preserving architectural heritage, such as documentation and structural diagnosis of manifestations of deterioration and damage in buildings.
The course also witnessed field tours and field workshops in which researchers and archaeologists participated, amid great interest from the male and female students participating in the course.
The training course comes within the framework of the Saudi ICOMOS efforts to support and improve the preservation of Saudi cultural heritage through awareness, capacity building, coordination and consultation. In addition to supporting research in the areas of protection, preservation, management and continuity of cultural heritage.
