 Saudi ICOMOS Signs Memorandum of Understanding with King Abdulaziz University!

The Saudi National Committee of the International Council on Monuments and Sites (Saudi ICOMOS) has signed a memorandum of understanding with King Abdulaziz University, represented by the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, to enhance scientific and knowledge cooperation in the fields of archaeology and human heritage.


This agreement aims to strengthen the relationship between the two institutions and expand the scope of the partnership in a number of vital tracks that serve the field of cultural heritage preservation in the Kingdom, mainly:


Conducting joint archaeological research and studies that contribute to documenting and interpreting sites and monuments of historical and cultural importance.


Organizing scientific conferences and seminars that bring together researchers and specialists and provide a platform for dialogue on contemporary challenges and practices in the field of heritage.
Providing training and professional development programs for students, researchers, and those interested in the fields of archaeology and urban heritage.
Activating international partnerships and exchanging experiences with relevant bodies and institutions within the framework of enhancing the Kingdom’s scientific role at the global level.


The signing of this memorandum comes in the context of ICOMOS Saudi Arabia’s keenness to build strategic partnerships with national academic institutions, activate their role in promoting the culture of heritage preservation, and support specialized research that keeps pace with the Kingdom’s 2030 vision in the cultural and educational fields.
