ICOMOS organizes a training program on urban heritage preservation
As part of its ongoing efforts to raise awareness of the importance of preserving urban heritage, ICOMOS Saudi Arabia, in partnership with the Royal Commission for AlUla Governorate, is holding the training program entitled (Preserving Urban and Architectural Heritage), During the period from 7 to 11 January 2024 AD.
The program, which will last for 4 days, includes a number of training courses, which are implemented by a number of professors interested in the field of heritage preservation.
The program begins its first day on Sunday, January 7, with a lecture by Saudi Ekimus expert Dr. Adnan Adas on the foundations of preserving heritage buildings. His Excellency Eng. Issam Rizk will also speak about these foundations on the second day of the program, Monday, January 8, On Tuesday, January 9, Dr. Sameh Hassan will talk about diagnosis and methods of repair, restoration and restoration.
Throughout the three days, the programs include a field workshop in the old village or oasis. It is provided by the Heritage Department of the Royal Commission for AlUla Governorate.
On the fourth and final day of the program, the Heritage Department of the Royal Commission for AlUla presents an example of the restoration and restoration of a heritage building in AlUla.
This program comes within the framework of ICOMOS’s efforts to preserve urban heritage throughout the Kingdom. In line with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 to raise and improve the tourism sector in the Kingdom.
